Standing for More Than Just One Day

Running a small business as a woman means constantly balancing creativity, resilience, and everyday challenges. It also means navigating a world where gender expectations—sometimes unspoken, sometimes very loud—can feel like an extra weight to carry. Strength is often defined through a narrow, masculine lens, but I believe true strength comes in many forms: in intuition, in care, in the courage to do things differently.

For me, Planet.A Boutique isn’t just about running a shop or making business decisions—it’s about creating a space that reflects those values. A place where creativity, sustainability, and kindness matter just as much as strategy and numbers. And I’m incredibly lucky to have a partner and a supportive community that helps me live this every day.

I’m also proud to work with so many talented female artists and makers. Their creativity, skill, and passion inspire me daily, and being able to showcase their work at Planet.A Boutique is something truly special. Supporting independent artists isn’t just a business choice; it’s part of a larger belief in sustainability. Sustainability isn’t just about materials or packaging; it’s also about lifting people up, supporting fair work, and creating something that lasts.

But while today is about celebrating women, I can’t ignore the wider reality. In Hungary, where I’m from, the government is now trying to ban the Pride march. It’s one of the reasons I left—these slow but steady changes have made it harder and harder to breathe. And now, in the US, lawmakers are pushing to define gender in rigid, binary terms. These aren’t just policies; they send a clear message about who is allowed to exist freely and who isn’t. And that should concern all of us.

So yes, today we celebrate women. But more than that, we stand up for the right to be who we are, no matter our gender, identity, or background. I believe in the equality of all human beings. A society should be rich and colourful, filled with different voices, ideas, and ways of being. And the only way to build a truly healthy, sustainable world is through kindness, love, attention, and respect—not fear or exclusion. That’s what we strive for every day at Planet.A Boutique, and that’s what sustainability means to us.
Warmly,
Pirko
